Green building group starts timeline to improve Cleveland buildings

Attic insulation and solar thermal retrofit in Rocky RiverThe Green Building Retrofitting Group has planned the first steps to reach their goal of retrofitting all 130,000 buildings in the City of Cleveland by 2019. The group started a timeline to reach the goal, with a planned finish date of August, 2010 or before the 2010 Sustainability Summit. Two subgroups were formed to develop the timeline:

  • 'Goals, metrics, tracking and measuring success,' headed by Chuck Ackerman, and
  • ’Creating a comprehensive implementation model (including workforce connection),’ headed by Marc McDermott.

Andrew Watterson will be attending the next Green Building Retrofitting meeting, this Thursday, Feb. 11 at 3500 Lorain Ave, at 6 p.m., to discuss the city of Cleveland's Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant ”Retrofit Ramp-up” program, and to gain his input on the timeline.
