Projects (2010)
- Providing education, tools and inspiration to promote SC2019’s “brand elements” (which include the color palette, design elements, messaging, etc.). This could be done through an online tool kit, templates, workshops, etc. It’s up to our group to figure out the best way to make that happen and then do it.
- Supporting the “celebration point” groups for each upcoming year—2011 is the year of energy efficiency, and 2012 is the year of local foods, for example.
Projects (2009)
- Assist with the rollout of the 2019 Post-Summit Report and other key releases.
- Explore the development of a broader public component to the summit. Possible ideas include a sustainability conference or trade show.
- Joined with four other 2019 Work Groups focused on communications and outreach to form the 'G5', an effort to engage 1.6 million Northeast Ohioans in the excitement of the sustainability summit.
- Advise on what platform should be used or developed to facilitate intergroup communications, external messaging, public visibility and encourage brand participation.
- Explore the development of a brand or logo which individuals or groups can use to associate themselves with the 2019 Initiative (without putting an official seal of approval from the City or Mayor’s Advisory Council).
After the first summit (2009), the Communications+Branding group supported the communications needs of the City and several 2019 work groups. Whether assisting with the rollout of the 2019 Post-Summit Report, advising on the platform for intergroup communications or engaging university marketing and communication classes on building the 2019 brand, the Communications+Branding group has strived to make strong connections, rooted in the vision of a sustainable Cleveland.
The Communications+Branding group has also partnered with other communications related work groups including, Engage 1.6 million, Post-Summit Momentum, Social Capital and Public Compact to form the G5. This larger group of groups successfully organized and executed a presence at the well attended Earth Day event at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The Communications+ Branding group developed marketing materials for the event, including business cards and banners, which not only served the purposes of the one day event, but also be serve as effective marketing tools for future 2019 initiatives.
Future steps
Continue to work with the city and other partners to communicate and brand Sustainable Cleveland 2019 to the region and beyond.
