Projects (2009)

The group is organizing a workshop that will focus on a new framework for supporting new relationships. Piloting education around personal sustainability is being pursued in partnership with Slavic Village Development, a nonprofit community development organization.

Updates

An Expanding Social Capital Work Group has been convened which has brought together leaders in Cleveland institutions that build social capital including Policy Bridge, Neighbor hood Connections, Neighborhood Leadership Institute, Cleveland Leadership Center, Case Western Reserve University, the new Civic Commons Initiative, in addition to original members of the first Summit’s working group. We have discussed what bridging capital already exists; however, it is horizontal in nature across a pyramid of power/income bringing together diverse groups at a certain level but does not include vertical integration (all the way to the ground). We’ve had discussions on a proposed set of deliverables, which include:

  • Providing a three-hour orientation for new participants to the SC2019 Summit (scheduled for 14 September)
  • Facilitating roundtables that would create an ongoing forum for issues around raising social capital
  • Creating vertical integration via a Social Inclusion Summer Institute, which would recruit from, for example, Neighborhood Leadership Institute, Cleveland Leadership Center, etc.

Future steps
Finalize plans for the deliverables above.
