Projects

• The group would like to form an experts roundtable to facilitate learning around sustainable manufacturing techniques, especially biomimicry, industrial symbiosis, and cradle-to-cradle design
• Identify small, doable opportunities (i.e., low hanging fruit with direct connection to dollars).

Updates

Sept. 2010—One outcome for the roundtable would be an inventory of practices identifying specific organizations, what they are doing in sustainability, and who to contact in those organizations about what they are doing. This could be a component of the “online portal” rolled out at the Forum.

April, 2010—The group is completing their assigned interviews of sustainability leaders, and establishing a protocol for others to use for interviews (see documents below). They are discussing a 'round table' with the leaders after the interviews are complete. Read more.

March, 2010—The group is updating its goals and objectives to be SMART, in advance of a Work Group gathering with the 2019 Strategic Plan consultant. See their preliminary ideas here.

February, 2010—The group is developing an interview protocol and will begin interviews to "field test" its mission/visionand find a niche in the community of groups trying to bring sustainable manufacturing to this region. It will also prioritize the “doable” projects and determine the next steps.

Next Meeting

The group will meet the last Monday of every month at 8 a.m. alternative between WIRE-Net and MAGNET (contact Schneider to confirm dates and location).
