Mission
Mission: The goal of this group is to envision sustainable land-use on a city and regional scale. The group will assist as ReImagine a More Sustainable Cleveland moves into implementation. It may address ways to connect vacant land that moves beyond isolated or parcel-by-parcel solutions. Outcomes might include a better balance between open space and the built environment.

Projects
Working with ReImagine a More Sustainable Cleveland study group on community engagement process for ReImagine 2.0 or implementation of vacant land plans.
Updates
In February 2010, the group was asked to join the ReImagine a more sustainable Greater Cleveland public outreach campaign as ambassadors and as participants in the city's ReImagine 2.0 working committees.
At the Jan. 20, 2010 meeting, the group brainstormed ways it would engage with the city's official ReImagine process (the group will attend committees chaired by Cleveland City Planning to write up RFPs for 'catalytic' projects that deliver green businesses or healthy, greener uses for the city's thousands of plots of vacant land). See notes below.
The group met on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative (UDC). Milestones for the 2019 Vacant Land group included: An invitation to join the “ReImagine 2.0” steering committee as members of the community outreach and network weaver sub-committees. See below for meeting notes.
Next steps
- Planning a series of meetings across the county for the public to have input on the reuse of large areas of vacant land and potential signature projects.
- Reimagining a More Sustainable Greater Cleveland is preparing a series of publications for educating and engaging communities in planning and policy discussions both locally and nationally.
