GreenCityBlueLake likes to hear from you. When you sign up for a user account, you have the option of telling us a little bit about yourself — including your vision and your dreams for a more sustainable future. (Thanks to those who’ve already filled out their profile.)
In the spirit of getting to know our community, we’re going to start highlighting some of these inspirational visions and dreams (with permission, of course). We start out with Diane Gorsek, an educator, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Honduras 1987-1990), and mother of two from Lakewood. This is Diane’s dream:
I dream of a time when the world is less energy dependent — when all homes are properly insulated, when people make smarter choices about which vehicles to drive, and when "alternative" energy sources cease to be alternative sources. I dream of a time when the US government concentrates on encouraging and subsidizing such practices.
I dream of a time when it is profitable to be green. When companies choose to adopt environmentally friendly practices not only because it's the right thing to do, but because it is good business practice. When companies re-direct their businesses to produce or support the production and use of environmentally sound machines and processes. When the US government leads the world in encouraging such practices.
I dream of a time when we can look back on this period as the "dark ages" and feel comfortable that we're passing on a better world to our children.
