From ClimateProgress.org: "The Midwest deluge (this week is) enhanced by near-record Gulf of Mexico sea surface temperatures. Sea surface temperatures in the Gulf are currently close to 1°C above average. Only two Aprils since the 1800s (2002 and 1991 have had similar temperatures).
Craig Fugate of FEMA said, "The term '100-year event' really lost its meaning this year."
