When it is all too much, when the news is so bad meditation itself feels useless, and a single life feels too small a stone to offer on the altar of peace, find a human sunrise. Find those people who are committed to changing our scary reality. Human sunrises are happening all over the earth, at every moment. People gathering, people working to change the intolerable, people coming in their robes and sandals or in their rags and bare feet, and they are singing, or not, and they are chanting, or not. But they are working to bring peace, light, compassion to the infinitely frightening downhill slide of human life.

- More than 150 manufacturers met at last week’s Great Lakes Institute for Energy Innovation at Case to learn about new business opportunities in the expanding wind supply chain market in Ohio. At this first of five regional wind supply chain workshops, WIRE-Net's Great Lakes Wind Network explained global trends driving market demand for key components in an already sold-out supply chain.
In 2008 WIRE-Net and the Ohio Department of Development began working on a $1.3 million project to create a comprehensive plan to identify, expand, and promote Ohio's robust wind energy supply chain.

- Kevin Cronin of ClevelandBikes sent us a USA Today article about Ripon College in Wisconsin, which will offer freshmen free mountain bikes, helmets and locks in exchange for a promise not to bring a car to campus this fall. The $300-per-student cost is funded by private donations. College president, David Joyce, says the project was meant to avoid building a parking garage, but other benefits like reducing pollution, promoting exercise and high gas costs were considered.
