In 2008, Cleveland had eight farmers' markets and Cuyahoga County had eighteen. One year later, some 30 open-air farmer's markets are operating throughout the week in the region. Check out this updated, comprehensive list of farmer's markets with current locations and times. (Wouldn't it be a nice resource to place all 30 on a map to see their coverage area and the gaps that remain?)
On an interesting side note, we noticed that North Union has moved the Parma Farmer's Market from Stearns Road to Parmatown Mall. Can local foods and farmer's markets become the savior of dying malls?
Another issue to consider: As the demand for farmer's markets increases, how do we as a region plan for more supply (of local food)? Read about what's happening already, and add your ideas to the Local Food Regional Agenda.
