What can the average person do to have an impact?
Everyone makes hundreds of choices each day, and those choices matter. That's where we come in with education and accelerating change. That's why we focus on the word "sustainability."
The new groups in sustainability are focusing on a more positive vision. Unless you can get across a vision that there's something people can do and it can make a difference, they're not going to act. People can act individually, but they can't do it alone. You may want to take transit to work, but the transit company has made cutbacks because the state has made cutbacks, so you really can't do much.
That's where we can help—by encouraging better land use and transportation answers. If we're smart about it, we can figure this out.
