Waste to profit: making it simple

The 2019 Waste to Profit met recently in attempt to further delineate the group’s mission going forward. The upfront goal was simple: to get 50 organizations to commit to a zero waste action plan. 

Of course getting busineses to commit to a process whose benefits can appear vague is not that easy. So the task at hand for the group is to inform the business community just exactly what zero waste entails. After all, you cannot ask a company to perform an act that is not clearly defined.

Going forward, then, the waste to profit group's immediate goal is one of advocacy and information. To help accomplish this, the group (through E4S) recently sponsored a best practices seminar featuring Jeff Baldasarri, CEO of The Taylor Companies, Jeffrey Bowen, Executive Director, Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity, and Jeff Millis, Inventory and Control Manager of Talan Products. Each organization is on the cutting edge of decreasing costs through conservation, not to mention eliminating their carbon footprint to an extent that seemed impossible only a few years back.
