Green Roofing

Can anyone who attended this session post some notes on the pros and cons Jim shared about different roofing materials? Outside of cost, I am wondering why more people in our region have not installed metal roofs. With their high durablity and low maitainance, they seem ideal. I see metal roofs used in commercial, and park shelters, but not residential. Is there some major issues with them? Where I come from in South Africa everyone built with them, but that is an entirely different climate. Any info you have would help.

Metal roof

Marc Lefkowitz Says:

Amy,

Walking home from the train I met a neighbor on my street who installed a metal roof on their single family home. She said they had to convince the city of Cleveland Heights (they got a variance), but she cited the longevity and, actually, the ability to regulate heat as reasons they chose it.  I can try to put you in contact with her if you're interested.
