WOW in the Warehouse District plantings in ClevelandAs we rebuild our cities, it's important that we do it with style and beauty. Sometimes this starts with simple things like improved maintenance and flowers — things that bring color into the city and convey a sense of pride.

For many years, ParkWorks has led beautification efforts in Cleveland with its City Side Gardens program. A more recent example is "WOW in the Warehouse District," a public-private beautification project that installed hanging planters on light posts in Cleveland's Warehouse District in June 2006. The project was intitiated with a $75,000 grant from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to the Historic Warehouse District Development Corp. The grant, along with funding generated through a corporate sponsorship drive that Anthem is coordinating, will pay for creation of the baskets as well as routine watering and care. Other businesses can support the effort by making contributions here.
