It's the green party of the year!

Purchase tickets online.

The GreenCityBlueLake Institute at The Cleveland Museum of Natural History invites the community to help celebrate Northeast Ohio's sustainability movement at "Emerge 2009." The event is slated for Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Museum.

The event will include a "State of Sustainability" presentation, which will provide a summary of progress made by Northeast Ohio's sustainability community in 2008. The report will also feature a forecast of challenges and opportunities related to these efforts in 2009.

Guests will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres made with organic and locally sourced ingredients, as well as a cash bar featuring organic wine and local beer selections. Music and dancing are also on tap. Raffle items include two tickets to each of the remaining Natural History of Food series' seven-course meals (on Spices and on Peppers, with guest chefs Karen Small of Flying Fig and Sergio Abramof of Sergio's). $20 per ticket; $80 per five (valued at $150 each ticket). Cash only.

GreenCityBlueLake Institute Director David Beach and his team at the Museum are dedicated to helping the region design sustainable cities that allow people to live well while reducing their ecological footprint. The Institute was formed from the recent merger of EcoCity Cleveland and the Museum.

"Emerge is the big party that will gather the sustainability community to celebrate the accomplishments of 2008 and inspire us all to set ambitious goals for 2009," said Beach. "We can create green cities on a blue lake here in Northeast Ohio."

All proceeds from the Emerge event will benefit the GreenCityBlueLake Institute.

Promotional sponsors are EarthWatch Ohio, WNWV-FM 107.3 The WAVE and Cleveland Business Connects (CBC Magazine).

Emerge event tickets are: Party only: $35 for Museum members, $45 for nonmembers. For the party plus a special 7 p.m. reception with David Beach and Museum Interim Executive Director Bonnie Cummings: $100 ($55 tax deductible). Admission includes two drink tickets. For tickets, call 216-231-1177 or purchase online. Tickets will be held at the door.
