Social Responsibility & Sustainability Symposium

Participants in a March 26 symposium at the Mandel Center will discuss the latest research on social entrepreneurship and social enterprise. During four interactive sessions, business leaders and researchers will exchange knowledge from the field and will advance conceptual understandings of the topics. The symposium will take place from 8.30 a.m. until 4.30 p.m. at the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations and is titled "Leading the Way in Social Responsibility & Sustainability: Leaders & Researchers Examine Social Entrepreneurship & Social Enterprise."

Specifically, the event will include research and presentations on studies involving 145 Kansas City nonprofit organizations, 15 social entrepreneurs operating in capital-constrained environments, 20 executives representing Nigerian firms in the pulp and paper industry, BAWB's World Inquiry project, and Western Business Practitioners (WBPs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) interacting to assist Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. The final session is on "Setting the Action Agenda: Research, Instruction, Practice." During this time, featured guests of the symposium will summarize the three previous symposium sessions from both an academic and practice perspective, and all participants will be asked to engage in an interactive general discussion to address the question, "Where do we go from here?"

The symposium is sponsored by the Executive Doctor of Management Program (EDM), the Mandel Center for Nonprofit Organizations, and BAWB.
