Cleveland Climate Watch Rally: 350.org INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CLIMATE ACTION

The CCW and the Cleveland Mountain Justice Project have signed up as participating organizations for the day of climate action that is being organized by 350.org350.org is the latest project of famed climate activist Bill McKibben who organized another series of action days under the Step It Up campaign. The goal of 350.org is to drive home the message to world leaders that we must set as a goal returning the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million. Otherwise we face the prospect of so altering the climate of the planet, that as climatologist James Hansen has stated, we will be living on a totally different planet.

We are joining the message of 350.org with the demand of the Cleveland Mountain Justice Project that RRI Energy, the company that operates the coal-fired power plant in Avon Lake, Ohio, stop using mountaintop removal-mined coal at its Avon Lake plant, and at its other power plants around the country  We will drive home these messages with a picket line in front of the Avon Lake power plant, on Saturday, October 24  2009

We urge all our supporters to join us in this action.  Please let us know of your interest in attending by using the contact form on the Cleveland Climate Watch website or by emailing Randy Cunningham at randy@clevelandclimatewatch.org.  We will be back in touch with you asap.  You can also go to http://www.350.org/node/7145 for more information.  See you in front of the Avon Lake power plant on October 24th.
