Lake Erie Boat Float

Join the Lake Erie Boat Float in raising awareness around plastic pollution! Registration for boat building teams is now open. Visit www.lakeerieboatfloat.org for more information.Prior to The Boat Float, Dr. Marcus Eriksen, who sailed the Pacific on a junk plastic raft and is the guest speaker for the 2009 Northeast Ohio Environmental Awards Ceremony, will be constructing a plastic bottle boat called The Cola-hoga. The construction site for the boat will be the Cleveland Botanical Garden and your help is needed to build the boat!

Marcus will need 400 uncrushed, 2-liter plastic bottles with lids and 1,000 plastic bags to build his boat. He will also need recyclable items to be used as paddles, e.g. crutches, and for a seat, e.g. satellite dish. And of course, he will also be looking for volunteers to help him build the boat.
