Local food film fest

The Rocky River Nature Center kicks off a film festival focused on health and local food this evening with a screening of "The Future of Food", a film about genetically modified organisms in our food supply. All of the films in the series begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

The other films in the series are:

"Fresh-The Movie". It's about what the food system in the U.S. could be like with a focus on local farms. October 13.

"King Corn". Two filmmakers rent 1 acre of land in Iowa and grow corn. They loose a lot of money - or would have, except for the government subsidies. The film delves into corn growing as big business and the ubiquity of corn products in many of our foods. October 20.

"Super Size Me". Filmmaker Martin Spurlock documents his life (and body) for 30 days on fast food - October 27.
