Meeting Minutes June 16th, 2010

Hello All,Great meeting yesterday everyone!  The summary is as follows: 1. Discussed objectives as a group and decided the following (unless there are any strong objections)    a. Objectives goals should be submitted to myself and Pam no later than Monday; otherwise, we will keep only the following as primary focuses for the group for now.        Focus 1: Drink Local. Drink Tap.  water awreness campaign to reconnect the region with freshwater, our lakefront, and the impacts of bottled water on the world.        Focus 2: Support the Freshwater Institute only as it moves forward if we get updates  from the science center.        Focus 3: Support Programs and Policies for the NEORSD that reduce CSOs and minimize stormwater runoff issues in the region. EXCITING NEWS: We will become an active program with "The Institute for Applied Phenomenology" (501c3) as a behavioral change research center to host the Drink Local. Drink Tap. campaign and the Sustainble Water group efforts.  We will be applying for grants to fund the start up of sales for tshirts, metal water bottles, and other items along with funding the website (to launch in late August) and run administrative costs.  Much of the focus here is behavioral change on a regional scale including Akron and others reconnecting communities with our waters nd understanding the impacts of our water use. EVENTS COMING UP:Cleveland Race Week-next week!!!:  We need help trying to get a tarp posted at this event.  Scott, Pam and myself are working on this and will post pics.Hands Across the Sands-Peaceful BP protest- wear your Dirnk Local Drink Tap shirts if you can.  http://www.handsacrossthesand.com/  June 26th 11-12 edgewater parkBurning River FestTall ShipsTapped showing Sept. 9th-Introduced by Dennis Kucinich2nd Annual Boat float---WE NEED YOUR PLASTICS and help to build                                         We need to design a logo and flag for our ship!Sustainbale Cleveland 2019 Summit- Sept. 2010We are welcome to have a DAY AT THE MARKET on a Thursday as well... To learn more, please join us at our next meetings.  We will be meeting every other Friday morning at the Westside Market Cafe.

NEXT MEETINGS:June 25th at 7:30 am and July 9th after the CRT at 9:15am. Thanks for all of your dedication and volunteer efforts for this common passion for clean water and Cleveland that we all share!
