Arbor Day tree giveaway and free admission at Holden Arboretum

Arbor Day is the annual observance that celebrates the role of trees in our lives and promotes tree planting and care. Holden will celebrate with a weekend filled with activities, as well as a Scientist Lecture and storytimes for children held at regional libraries.

In celebration of Arbor Day, admission to Holden is free all weekend.

Also:

  • Ceremonial Tree Planting, join the Fridays in the Garden group at 9:45am in Holden's Display Garden for the planting of a Venus Dogwood Cornus (kousa x nuttallii). The group will then proceed to the Nation Science Foundation Field Site at Schupp Forest/Strong Acres for soil experiment results.
  • Tree Seedling Give-Away (all weekend, while supplies last) ? This year's Arbor Day tree seedling is 'Hamamelis virginiana' (Eastern Witch Hazel), which blooms in the fall. There will be 250 seedlings given away each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; one per family, please. Learn more about this year's tree seedling.
