The stone soup mystery meal

The Stone Soup Mystery Meal will start out at the Countryside Farmers? Market and continue at Hale Farm & Village. Families will take part in a guided tour of the market and personal introductions to local farmers. Then groups will set out to purchase fresh produce and other local products to create a mystery meal. Participants will then hike the short trail from Indigo Lake to Hale Farm & Village, where the group will prepare a mystery soup over a campfire and assemble delicious salads. While the soup finishes, the children will re-enact the traditional tale of Stone Soup. The mystery meal will be served fireside, while participants try to guess the mystery ingredients.

Fee: $17 adults, $15 for members of Countryside Conservancy, Western Reserve Historical Society, and Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and $7 children ages 5 - 11. Price includes market tokens. Howe Meadow, 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Be prepared for the weather and for walking. Farmers? Market purchases will be shuttled to Hale Farm & Village so as to not burden participants on their hike. For more information and to register by September 16, call Connie at 330-657-2796 ext. 100.

The event complements Farm Camp, a farm-to-fork program operated by the Farm School Initiative, and Farm School, a sustainable farming and garden design program. Both programs focus on concepts of sustainability, stewardship, agricultural ecology, place, change over time, entrepreneurship, and gastronomy.
