Dam Owners Meeting

The Chagrin River Watershed Partners, Inc. and Ohio Department of Natural Resources, in cooperation with Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Portage Soil and Water Conservation Districts, are hosting a Dam Safety Meeting for dam owners. Information will be presented on topics such as: Pond Maintenance and Management, including dredging requirements and costs Dam Safety 101- Ohio dam safety law, how dams work, and why dams fail Dam Owners Responsibilities and liabilities Dam Classifications and what a change in classification means for the owner Overview of an Emergency Action PlanThe meeting is targeted towards private dam owners, community service directors, homeowners associations, and anyone interested in understanding more about the responsibilities and requirements of maintaining a dam.This meeting is free, but advance registration is required.
