Local Foods Summit 2012

An opportunity for networking and learning for people interested in all aspects of growing a local food system in north-central Ohio. Learn about growing a local food system, whether you are a backyard gardener, farmer, business owner, eductaor, or just someone interested in getting involved with efforts to grow local food systems. The event will be structured in a way to enable you to learn new ways to get involved with local food systems, meet and network with others, learn from some of the innovators in Northeast Ohio's local food system, and find new opportunities for collaboration and shared investment to grow community wealth and opportunity in the region. The event will provide an interactive format that will allow you to learn and network with others. Some of the connections that we will help to make include:

• Growers and commercial buyers
• Growers and consumers
• Farmers and farmers
• Transportation, distribution, storage

We will leverage the event to increase opportunities for farmers to connect with local businesses or institutions interested in local food purchasing, identify new business opportunities in the local food economy, determine education and training pathways to develop the workforce and entrepreneurs who can find opportunity in food localization, and to develop new models for capitalizing growth of local food systems.
