Hathaway Brown School's Focus on Food speaker series:Mary Donnell, Executive Director of Green City Growers Cooperative Greenhouse Green City Growers Cooperative Greenhouse is a 3.25 acre hydroponic greenhouse that is being built in the urban core of Cleveland. As an employee-owned business, Green City Growers is a real economic development opportunity for the area in which it is being built, and it will provide a steady stream of locally-grown leafy greens to the Cleveland food system. Anticipated to produce 3 million heads of lettuce and 300,000 pounds of herbs annually, this commercial scale greenhouse can make a real impact! Come hear more about the Green City Growers project from Mary Donnell, Executive Director of the enterprise. Ms. Donnell has a background in biology and horticulture, in addition to an MBA. She is one of few women who work in commercial scale food production and procurement and is an entrepreneur committed to the social mission of this venture, as well as the development of local and sustainable food systems.
