Urban beekeeping conference

The Greater Cleveland Beekeepers Annual Conference and Field Event will be held Saturday May 19, 2012 from 8 am to 3:30 pm. and located at The Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds, Eastland Rd. Berea, Ohio, 44017. The learning sessions will take place in the Floral, Arts and Crafts buildings and the Bee Barn all located on the fairgrounds in Berea.

This year?s theme is Urban Beekeeping. Urban beekeeping is supported by beekeepers throughout many Cleveland suburbs. This is having a positive impact on the Honey Bee making come back and regaining strength in Northeast Ohio. This enlightening conference is intended to attract all who are interested in learning more about bees, beekeeping and Cleveland?s sustainability. This conference is hosted by The Greater Cleveland Bee Association, which is the largest bee club in Ohio. Mentoring new beekeepers and sharing information and experience is what the Greater Cleveland Bee Association ultimately provides its members.

The impact that bees have on our lives affects each one of us because the honey bee is responsible for pollinating 80% the fruit and vegetables we consume. The honey bee has been declining but now has help because of communities embracing bee culture. Cleveland has many active urban beekeepers that will be attending this conference and many interested gardeners and nature lovers will find this event motivating and remarkable. There is so much to learn from observing these significant creatures! Come and meet the beekeepers!
