Floodplain Planting

Spend the afternoon outside in West Creek Reservation at a tree planting event hosted by the Watershed Volunteer Program.

How many ways will your trees make a difference? Planting native trees slows the flow of stormwater into streams from our dense urban matrix – streets, rooftops, driveways, and lawns – to help prevent flooding. Tree roots hold onto soil and prevent bank erosion, a leafy canopy keeps water cool to support fish and other aquatic organisms, and forested streams provide great habitat for wildlife (and nature lovers!).

The Watershed Volunteer Program gives participants the tools to make a difference in their communities. Learn more about the issues through our workshops, participate in restoration and monitoring events, and reach out with community extension projects.

Meet at the end of Dentzler Rd. in Parma, OH 44134
