Press conference on misuse of antibiotics in agriculture
On Saturday, February 15, Food & Water Watch will host a press conference to announce the launch of a local campaign to raise awareness and put an end to the misuse of antibiotics on factory farms. Overuse of antibiotics on factory farms is linked to increased antibiotic-resistant infections in humans. In a recent report, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that over two million people per year suffer from antibiotic-resistant infections, and at least 23,000 die from them. Concerned citizens and speakers will gather outside the West Side Market to urge the Cleveland City Council to pass one of the first local resolutions in the country to protect our life-saving antibiotics.
