Food waste in Northeast Ohio: A conversation
Come to the beautiful Squire Valleyvue Farm of Case Western Reserve University to engage in learning and discussion about the back-end of local food systems: Food Waste. The event comes out of a USDA-SARE funded pilot project called “Food Waste for Farms”, out of Kent, Ohio. The event seeks to link area restaurants, food producers, schools, and farms to find more sustainable methods of managing food waste. Whether as animal feed or compost material, Food Waste for Farms aims to decrease the amount of valuable waste in landfills. The event will include a variety of speakers from chefs, institutional dining managers, farmers, and compost businesses.
