9-6-07—From Jim Cossler, Chief Evangelist, Youngstown Business Incubator
The alumina/silicon carbide composite material (TCON®) developed by YBI portfolio company Fireline TCON, Inc. has been put through yet another very rigorous test by U.S. Department of Energy researchers and passed with flying colors.

The composite was installed on an aluminum melt holding furnace at Energy Industries of Ohio. The material successfully completed the 2000 hour test with no detectable signs of attack or mechanical degradation. Because of TCON's enhanced performance, the Department estimates the composite could help create a total energy savings of over 0.55 trillion Btu per year for the aluminum industry.

Yes...trillion.
