Alternative fuels

The transportation sector accounts for more than a quarter of total U.S. energy consumption (nearly all from oil), so alternative fuels can play a big part of a more sustainable energy future. This section will cover all the projects working on alternative fuels in Northeast Ohio — from biofuels to fuel cells. There's a lot going on!

Resources

  • Clean Fuels Ohio - Clean Fuels Ohio is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of cleaner, domestic fuels and efficient vehicles to the transportation industry, government officials and the general public
  • Ohio Green Fleets Program - As one of Clean Fuels Ohio’s main initiatives, the Ohio Green Fleets program promotes the use of efficient technologies and alternative domestic fuels by helping fleets that ask for it and recognizing those that deserve it.
  • Earth Day Coalition Clean Fuels Program - The mission of Earth Day Coalition's Clean Cities Program is to promote the development of a critical mass of alternative fueling stations and vehicles in order to facilitate the growth of a viable alternative fuels industry in the Northeast Ohio (NEO) region (Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, and Summit counties).

Updates

July 30, 2007—Cuyahoga County's first alternative fuels station, selling biodiesel (B20) and Ethanol (E85), to open in late August on State Rd (just south of I-480 in the City of Parma).
