Ohio adding biofuels at the pump

It's getting a little easier to refuel with biodiesel and E85 in Ohio since the Ohio Legislature passed HB 245 in fall 2006, providing $1 million in grants for businesses, government and schools to purchase fuel dispensing equipment.

The new law builds on existing Ohio Biofuels Retail Incentive Program that provided $300,000 for retail facilities, the non-profit group Clean Fuels Ohio reports.

From 2005 to 2006, Ohio added 35 retail sites (totalling 49 sites) and has 155 distributors of biodiesel and E85.

In 2007, Clean Fuels Ohio would like to dramatically increase that number, particularly in metropolitan areas to increase the potential for more and larger fleets as well as individual diesel operators to use blended biodiesel.

The group maintains a list of biofuels retailers on its web site.
