Advocacy for your local government

  • Make sure all staff are aware of and on board your city’s climate action plan
  • Develop a communications forum/portal for sharing ideas and communicating new and existing policies and programs
  • Form a multi-departmental Education and Outreach Committee
  • Conduct education and outreach to actively engage city staff – brown bag lunches, department meetings, scientific expert meetings
  • Develop and implement internal media campaigns
  • Actively promote green programs throughout the city – newsletters, factsheets, brochures, intranet and all staff emails
  • Provide resources for schools, businesses, City departments, institutions and civic organizations
  • Celebrate and publicize “green” commitments and accomplishments
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations and institutions
  • Collaborate with local universities on environmental initiatives
