Climate change is a risk factor for extreme weather just as eating salty food is a risk factor for heart disease.

ReImagine a Greater Cleveland

A regional agenda for energy?
What would it mean to have an agenda for energy in Northeast Ohio? In the absence of effective federal or state programs, could we work together as a region and develop strategies to reduce energy consumption and save money? Could we become a leading region for alternative energy technologies and manufacturing? Could we learn how to regard climate change as an opportunity for innovation? Who will provide the leadership to do such things?
This section will cover the strategic thinking that can make Northeast Ohio a leader in sustainable energy. Below are links to sections about how to plan for a climate-neutral region, thinking about electricity deregulation in Ohio, and an exciting planning process initiated by The Cleveland Foundation and NorTech to develop an advanced energy strategy for the region.
To stimulate your thinking, read the City Club talk by Peter Garforth about how sustainable energy can be the key to the economic revitalization of Northeast Ohio.

ski with the wind
Susan Miller Says:Skiers were delighted that there is finally snow to ski the slopes at Brandywine and Boston Mills ski areas in Northeast Ohio. Here is an article that suggests that the two resorts might join a growing number of ski resorts purchasing renewables to stay in business.
From the article:
"Crystal Mountain and the ski industry across the country have shown leadership in adapting renewable energy," said Kris Lotlikar, vice president of strategic planning for Renewable Choice. "And they share the benefits with their customers."
Lotlikar sees ski resorts as an ideal place to educate the public about renewable energy. As skiers look forward to cold and snowy winters, they may want to use earth friendly energy aimed at halting global warming.
As part of that education, Crystal is offering free or discounted lift tickets to those who sign up their homes for green energy.
Does anyone know if our resorts are pursuing this bent?
