They realize that it's in their interest to be proactive about reducing the energy intensity of their economy, promoting advanced energy to create good jobs, and protecting a clean environment.

Illinois
The Illinois Climate Change Advisory Group was appointed by the Governor to recommend ways the state can reduce global warming pollution to 1990 levels by 2020 and to 60% below 1990 levels by 2050. The group recently made 24 policy recommendations in three key areas:
-
Clean car standards advancing innovative car technologies to achieve less pollution and more miles per gallon.
-
Accelerating clean energy development to power the future and create jobs and boost the rural economy.
-
Capping pollution from coal plants to protect public health and the environment.
