How will Lake Erie turbines look from the shore?

The simulated image at right shows what large, commercial wind turbines would look like if located one, three, or ten miles out on Lake Erie. It was created by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Office of Coastal Management. The view is from Whiskey Island along the Cleveland lakefront. (Click here for a larger image.)

This graphic was produced for Garden State Offshore Energy, which won the rights in October 2008 to build a $1 billion wind farm 20 miles off the shores of New Jersey. Wind turbines being considered for Lake Erie could be located 3 miles off shore.
