Paul Fenn, founder and CEO of Local Power, Inc., will talk about the emergence of green cities in California’s Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) movement and the potential for Ohio communities to accelerate development of green power under its 1999 CCA law. Fenn will brief us on the San Francisco Bay Area’s cluster of communities using CCA in conjunction with innovative financing mechanisms to develop and build solar, wind, efficiency, and other renewable technologies in local communities—and specifically why it is possible for these communities to achieve a 51% Renewable Portfolio Standard by 2017 without increasing electricity rates.

Local Power Inc. is an Energy Service Bureau helping cities adopt, implement and manage Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) energy networks.

CCA represents a revolution in the way power is generated and sold, allowing any community to build a new green energy infrastructure, diversify their electric power away from fossil fuels and nuclear power, and achieve energy independence and sustainability, all at the same prices that your utility now charges for conventional fossil and nuclear power. With Local Power, you need no longer choose between competitively priced power and green power.

Visit www.localpower.com for more information.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Stefanie Spear at 216-387-1609 or spear@earthwatchohio.org.

This meeting is sponsored by EarthWatch Ohio & hosted by Green Energy Ohio.

Celebrate with us as we kick off the return of West Creek at its confluence with the Cuyahoga River.

Witness the start of demolition as we reclaim the site from its current condition as a vacant warehouse and parking lot to make way for a beautiful 10-acre riverfront park.

When completed, West Creek will return to its original meandering flow into the Cuyahoga River with natural wetlands to reduce flooding, clean our drinking water, and restore wildlife habitat. The new park will connect the West Creek Greenway to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, provide new access to the creek and river for all, and lead to economic revitalization of this part of Independence.

Welcome to Pecha Kucha Night Cleveland!

How often do you wonder what the other creative professionals in our community are up to? Or maybe would just like to hear from another creative person that doesn't do the same thing you do? Join us as local creatives present their work, ideas, and obsessions in a series of short presentations on art, fashion, life, food, architecture, community, film, furniture, music, and photography.

Each presenter is allowed 20 images, shown for 20 seconds each to keep presentations concise, interest level up, and provide the opportunity for more people to show. This fast paced presentation format, devised and shared by Klein Dytham Architecture of Tokyo, Japan, is sure to keep the audience captivated by forcing presenters to edit to a new level of interest and conciseness.

Hopefully through these creative show and tells we will be able to break down any barriers between the different design communities, expose new talent and ideas, provide a new perspective on established talent, foster meaningful collaborations amongst the presenters and audience members, and provide the community one more ridiculously interesting reason to continue creating.

Mention Pecha Kucha at the gate and get into Ingenuity for only $5!

Doors for Pecha Kucha open at 7PM.
