Get Up, Get Out &Go! (GGG) offers free outdoor recreational activities for kids ages 11 to 14 and their families in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and Akron-area metro parks. Arrive at Cascade Village Community Center, Lawton or Joy Park Recreation Centers 1 hour prior to program for FREE transportaion.
Spend the evening with Medina Raptor Center volunteers and their birds and take a short hike to seek out birds that live in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Binoculars provided.

The Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) and the Ohio Department of Transportation, along with Amtrak, are currently working to introduce start-up passenger rail service in Ohio's
Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati (3C) corridor. This service (at up to 79 mph) is a first step in implementing the longer-term vision for a network of high speed trains operating at 110 mph on routes serving other Ohio destinations, the Midwest and the Nation. Participants will run two miles on the Headwaters Trail, bike ten miles along beautiful rural roads to Camp Hi Livery, and then canoe or kayak back to Buchert Park in Mantua on the Upper Cuyahoga State Scenic River. Teams of two may split the run/bike portion, then canoe together, or, a single adventurer may run, bike and kayak. Fees are $40 per person, and includes t-shirt, canoe rental and after race refreshments. Fitness Walk fee is $15.00.
This special event will raise funds to enable the Park District to expand its volunteer program as well as make improvements to its trails around the county. 2009 is the Year of the River, designated by the Park District and many organizations and local governments to celebrate the 40 years of progress made in river health since the infamous burning of the Cuyahoga River in 1969.

BeeDance is an online experience that identifies, diverts and connects products and materials that are misclassified as waste to audiences who value these items. The design and functionality of the BeeDance model of beneficial reuse is inspired by the behaviors and characteristics of nature’s most efficient organism, the honeybee. BeeDance uses current and emerging technologies to encourage new material flow connections in the economy that will lead to a redesign of the waste stream.
Expedite Renewable Energy (ERE) encourages businesses to generate their own power by investing in renewable energy and becoming more energy efficient. Expedite Renewable Energy's first project is the Pearl Road Wind Project, Cleveland's first business that will install a wind turbine (120 kilowatts) to potentially generate 100 percent of their annual electricity needs. Through this project, a model will be created that will help other businesses streamline the process of investing in wind technologies to offset energy costs.

ZooBlooms showcases the Zoo’s 168 acres of plants and flowers from around the world. In conjunction with the Zoo’s DINOSAURS! exhibit, ZooBlooms focuses on living fossils, including the many prehistoric plants that surround Tyrannosaurus rex and company alongside the Zoo’s Waterfowl Lake.

Vel's garden is a blend of market, community, and educational gardens with a developing border of native habitat. Participants in this innovative program will experience the seasonality of foods, meet local farmers and artisans, and gain hands-on cooking skills. Environment Ohio and the Ohio Environmental Council release “Testing the Waters: A Guide to Water Quality at Vacation Beaches,” the 19th annual Natural Resources Defense Council report on beach closings and beachwater monitoring programs. The Ohio House of Representatives Alternative Energy Committee will be hosting a field hearing. The hearing is open to the public and will focus on the type and breath of alternative energy-related work underway in Northeast Ohio. Nineteen companies and/or universities will have exhibits of their work on display in the OAI atrium beginning at 9:00 a.m. Those interested in exhibiting should contact Roxanne Summers at 440-962-3113.
Following the hearing, committee members and witnesses will answer questions from the news media from approximately 12:05 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Committee, chaired by Representative Ted Celeste (D-Grandview Heights), plans to hold up to five regional field hearings to learn more about the alternative energy research and commercial activities in Ohio. The July 31 hearing is the first of these field hearings to be held in the state.
