MAKE YOUR COMMUNITY A WILDLIFE FRIENDLY ZONE!

The National Wildlife Federation, with support of the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District and local natural resource professionals will be hosting Backyard Habitat Stewards Workshops this fall.

Adult volunteers will be trained and certified as Backyard Habitat Stewards and will be equipped with the knowledge to assist community residents in transforming their local schools, worksites, and backyards into wildlife habitats.

Each session will feature presentations and how-to lessons from local professionals. Topics covered include:

-If You Plant It, They Will Come - Landscaping for Birds and Butterflies
-Watershed: How Water Moves Through Our Natural Habitat"
-Developing Your Backyard Wildlife Habitat
-Pond Construction and Maintenance
-Northeast Ohio Native Plants
-Community and Schoolyard Habitats
-Sustainable Gardening Practices

Cost is $50

Participants must attend all classes to qualify for certification as a Habitat Steward with the National Wildlife Federation. Program fee includes all materials and field trip fees. Upon completion, new Habitat Stewards are asked to contribute 30 volunteer hours.
