The foreclosure crisis in Cuyahoga County did not happen overnight. Similarly, the strategies for moving our communities and residents Beyond Foreclosure will take time to evolve. Over the coming year, the Levin College Forum will hold a series of forums that will look Beyond Foreclosure to strategies for creating a new, more prosperous future for Northeast Ohio's neighborhoods and communities. Explore some basic questions:

  • Where our housing markets are headed next?
  • Do we need to redefine the American Dream?
  • Are there viable alternatives to homeownership?
  • What's next for homeowners who have lost their homes, their credit, and in some cases, their equity?
  • What's next for our neighborhoods and cities?

This first forum in the series will focus on small scale housing strategies and projects that are new, creative, environmentally sustainable and invigorating to the marketplace.

Panelists:

  • Brian Mikelbank, Assistant Professor and Director, Center for Housing Policy Research, Levin College of Urban Affairs
  • Kathleen H. Crowther, Executive Director, Cleveland Restoration Society
  • Chris Kious, Urban Lumberjacks of Cleveland and A Piece of Cleveland, Deconstruction
  • Marge Misak, Executive Director, Cuyahoga Community Land Trust
