Cuyahoga County Commissioners Jimmy Dimora and Tim Hagan (third commish Peter Lawson-Jones voted down the measure) have proposed a 1/4% raise in the county's sales tax rate to fund a new convention center and, they argue, use the tax hike as a lure for a Medical Mart. The public will have an opportunity to weigh in on the subject before the commissioners vote on it later in the day (a possible referendum on the issue could arise from the commissioner's action if 40,000 signatures are collected within 30 days of the vote).
