Comedy filmmaker Gary Burns (waydowntown) has teamed with journalist Jim Brown to paint a unique picture of suburbia focusing on one newly transplanted family. Surreal snapshots of exurban life (desperate housewives, a musical chorus line mowing the lawn) are intercut with statistics, talking heads (The Geography of Nowhere’s James Howard Kunstler, et al.), and cultural references (Jane Jacobs, etc.) in this surprising movie that is both “enlightening and disturbingly funny” (Village Voice). Cleveland premiere. 35mm. 93 min. www.radiantcitymovie.com
