The demands of equity and justice cannot be confined to a single neighborhood. The very reasons why so many disadvantaged people reside in the central city are regional—suburban sprawl across a welter of political jurisdictions, exclusionary zoning, the near total absence of meaningful regional planning and so forth. Ways must be found to discuss and address these issues on a regional basis for the sake of the city, of the region, of us all.
The Cleveland Indians and Green Energy Ohio ribbon-cutting ceremony and press event for the installation of a new solar electric system at Jacobs Field—the first American League ballpark to have solar. The solar installation will provide some 8.4 kilowatts of clean, renewable electricity and introduce solar energy concepts to millions in Northeast Ohio.
This site is inspired by the memory of Richard Shatten, a former board member of EcoCity Cleveland,
who pushed Northeast Ohio to think strategically about regionalism and sustainability.
