In today’s economy, we compete with the entire world for good jobs and good people. As a result, Cleveland and Northeast Ohio can no longer afford to rely solely on the many strengths that shaped this community and allowed it to thrive throughout much of the past century. Nor can we allow our rhetoric, indecisiveness or narrow interests to continue to impede efforts to restore our region’s competitiveness and economic vitality.
Tobacco reduction efforts are gaining strength in Northeast Ohio. More businesses and institutions are promoting the health of their employees, and more people are fed up with being assaulted by second-hand smoke in public places.

who pushed Northeast Ohio to think strategically about regionalism and sustainability.
