The Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association will build the first mountain bike trail in the Cleveland Metroparks at the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, the group announced in fall 2006.
The 4 mile loop trail will be open to mountain biking, hiking and trail running. Construction will begin in November 2006 and will be open for the 2007 riding season.
After 5 1/2 years of dedicated advocacy work, the trail represents a first-of-its-kind in Cuyahoga County. It joins other well-received CAMBA-designed trails at West Branch State Park in Ravenna and Reagan Park in Medina and private trails at the former Atchenson's property in Madison and Vulture's Knob in Wooster.
This site is inspired by the memory of Richard Shatten, a former board member of EcoCity Cleveland,
who pushed Northeast Ohio to think strategically about regionalism and sustainability.
