Sustainability is the biggest, most vital challenge we face as a species...We need to act now. Climate change, overpopulation, water and air pollution, and threats to biodiversity — all are issues we must address now. Not when it's politically convenient. Not every once in a while when a news story reminds us. These are issues on which we must focus our whole attention.

Turning the Baldwin-Wallace Earthtub

The Earthtub or industrial-scale composter at Baldwin-Wallace has to be turned by hand every day by the cafeteria kitchen staff, and every item that's placed in it need to be recorded for the county health department. A good ratio is 2:1 food to "bulkery" i.e. leaves and wood chips.
This site is inspired by the memory of Richard Shatten, a former board member of EcoCity Cleveland,
who pushed Northeast Ohio to think strategically about regionalism and sustainability.
