Rare finds in Summit parks

Marc Lefkowitz Says:

Preserving nature close to the city lets us get up close with different species. The Summit MetroParks photographed a bunch of different animals that made an appearance this past year in park lands, such an American bittern and a star-nose mole.

CVNP interested in land surrounding Blossom

Marc Lefkowitz Says:

The Musical Arts Association (which operates Blossom Music Center and the Cleveland Orchestra) is interested in selling 600 acres at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the PD reported on April 8, 2008. The Park doesn't have current funds to purchase the land.

Park officials are also concerned about the possible sale and development of the privately-owned Brandywine Golf Course in Peninsula. America's Heritage For Sale, a new report from the National Parks Conservation Association, says that the Park needs $8 million to purchase the properties.

Update: the Plain Dealer published a map and additional details.
