May is the right time for biking

May is a big bicycling month in Greater Cleveland. With plenty of rides, events and a big conference at the Cleveland Public Library on May 16, many expect an outcome of a stronger bike community that’s energized to help Cleveland accomplish its goal of becoming a Bicycle Friendly Community. Here are some of the highlights:

Mon May 5: Walk+Roll Benefit

At Pickwick & Frolic in the car-free East 4th Street District. The networking event will include bicycle riders who also happen to be some of Cleveland's change makers, movers and shakers. Meet people like Thomas Mulready of CoolCleveland.com, Dan Moulthrop of WCPN's The Sound of Ideas, Phillip Morris of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and lots of other interesting people Details + register

May 10-18: Cleveland Bicycle Week

Numerous organizations are coming together to shine the spotlight on bicycles! There will be tons of activities like Bike to RiverSweep, Every Saturday Social Ride, Bike To Work, Discover mountain biking in the city, Bike Slavic Village, Bicycle Movies Night, a full-day conference and more! Mon May 12: Bicycle Movies Night

Come to the Natural History Museum to see films about bikes, made by cyclists and/or that celebrate the wonder and the joy of bicycles. Tickets.

Thur May 15: Full-day Bicycle Conference.

Numerous groups are working to make this a great day for planners, policy makers, politicians, the media, stakeholders and you. Details + sign-up.

NOACA has donated over 200 bicycle accessories including frame pumps, flashing light sets, seat bags, locks and mirrors! The free bicycle accessories will be given away at all of the Cleveland Bicycle Week events.

And remember: each time you use a bicycle for a 15-minute ride instead of driving a car, you keep at least 5 pounds of CO2 pollution out of our air.

Cleveland Bicycle Week on TV5 today

ClevelandBicycleWeek is on TV5 (ABC) today. They did a live piece at 7 am. It is supposed to repeat during the noon show and the 6 pm show.

CBW was also featured in Northern Ohio Live magazine on page 24.
