An essential part of a balanced transportation system
In our automobile culture, transit gets little respect, but it's a vital part of a healthy, sustainable city. In Northeast Ohio, cities haven't come close to realizing the promise of transit — especially at a time of rising gasoline costs when people need affordable transportation choices.

KJP Says:That is no longer a Conrail right of way. When Norfolk Southern and CSX jointly acquired Conrail's assets in 1999, CSX got this line and significantly upgraded it as their Midwest-East Coast mainline. Today, it has roughly 60 freight trains per day on it. However, the two-tracked right of way, when built in 1911, was designed to accommodate additional tracks. While there isn't sufficient grading to simply lay extra tracks all along it, many of its bridge abutments were built to allow for more tracks.
Hope this helps.
