The demands of equity and justice cannot be confined to a single neighborhood. The very reasons why so many disadvantaged people reside in the central city are regional—suburban sprawl across a welter of political jurisdictions, exclusionary zoning, the near total absence of meaningful regional planning and so forth. Ways must be found to discuss and address these issues on a regional basis for the sake of the city, of the region, of us all.

Susan Miller Says:Today the Broadway Mills Building on the Central Viaduct was nominated for consideration as a Cleveland Landmark. John Motl of ODOT said that the Broadway Mills building along with CSU's Mather Mansion is undergoing the section 106 review. Broadway Mills is take number 19 for the bridge's northern alignment, and Mather Mansion is a spit from the new trench access road that Mayor Jackson approved. Where's the public on this?
Mr. Beach, you were on the Scoping Committee. Please tell us what happened to the public process. What happened to the southern alignment potential? Why does ODOT appear to be moving ahead with plans that include bulldozing Cleveland's history?
