The Application Consortium adopted the following priorities that align to the following Sustainable Communities' Livability Principle:

Enhance Ecnomic Competitiveness
Improve economic competitiveness through reliable and timely acess to employment centers, education opportunities, services, and other basic needs by workers, as well as expanded business acess to markets.

  • Identify targeted industries across the region as distinctive assets and create hubs that will guide research, talent development, and investments
    • Develop guidelines and incentives for local, state, and federal programs and policies that foster entrepreneurial growth across all industries including high-tech, service, agriculture that considers talent development, logistics, and information sharing.
  • Design new strategies and support existing efforts to cultivate a 21st century workforce to lift up economically disadvantaged communities
    • Support local efforts to improve schools and increase college/ vocational graduation rates
    • Include strategies that will provide improved wealth building opportunities for low income residents
    • Create mechanism to connect business community with education to ensure workforce developed in Northeast Ohio will meet the needs of the targeted and traditional industries
  • Maximize the appeal of Northeast Ohio as a place of choice for both residents and businesses in plans to revitalize the urban cores by engaging both in the planning process
  • Create a model that eliminates the zero-sum competition among the region’s political subdivisions by creating sustainable tax base for all communities through coordinated land use planning
